Weekend, seasonal & last-minute pricing — set it once
Flat nightly rates leave money on the table every weekend and every festival. Here's how a few pricing rules capture that upside automatically — without daily fiddling.
Most stays in India are priced with one number that rarely moves. A flat nightly rate is easy to quote — and it quietly costs you money on exactly the nights you have the most leverage: Fridays, Saturdays, long weekends, Diwali, the school holidays.
Charge the same on a dead Tuesday as a festival Saturday and you’re either too expensive midweek or too cheap at the peak. Usually both.
Pricing by hand doesn’t scale
The fix isn’t to log in every morning and nudge rates. That’s a chore you’ll abandon the first busy week — and the busy weeks are the ones that matter. What you want is to decide the logic once and let every new booking price itself.
A handful of rules covers almost every property:
- Weekend uplift — Fridays and Saturdays priced higher, automatically.
- Seasonal & festival rates — Diwali, New Year, summer holidays set in advance.
- Minimum-stay — two-night floors on weekends so you don’t lose a Saturday to a one-night gap.
- Early-bird — a gentle discount for bookings made well ahead, to fill the calendar early.
- Last-minute — a nudge down on unsold near-term nights, to fill them rather than lose them.
Revenue management isn’t a spreadsheet you maintain. It’s a few rules you set, then forget.
Per room type, where it matters
For homestays and hotels, the same rules run per room type — your suite and your standard room can follow different weekend and seasonal curves. The booking quote always reflects the right number, so you never have to remember which night is priced how.
Set the floor, not the daily grind
Good pricing rules don’t take control away from you — they encode the decisions you’d make anyway, then apply them to every enquiry without you lifting a finger. You still override any single night when you want to; the rules just handle the other 360.
In VillaDesk, dynamic pricing rules sit on top of the smart pricing calendar — weekend, seasonal, min-stay, early-bird and last-minute — and they’re included from the Growth tier up across every kind of stay.
